GUIDELINES FOR ARTISTS
GENERAL GUIDELINES
1. Artwork Specifications:
- Medium: Specify acceptable mediums (e.g., painting, drawing, sculpture, digital art, mixed media). Make sure the guidelines are tailored to the type of platform or event.
- File Format for Digital Submissions: JPEG, PNG, or TIFF files are preferred. If submitting a physical piece, high-quality photos or scans are usually required.
- Resolution: For digital submissions, artwork should be at least 1500 pixels on the longer side to maintain quality for online displays.
- File Size: Maximum file size of 10MB to keep submissions manageable.
2. Presentation of Work:
- Composition: Submissions should show attention to composition, including balance, focus, and overall aesthetic appeal.
- Quality of Presentation: For physical artworks, ensure the photo or scan is clear, well-lit, and properly framed (no distracting backgrounds or poor lighting).
- No Watermarks: To maintain the blog or gallery’s professional appearance, no watermarks or signatures should be present on the digital submissions. The artist will still be credited separately.
3. Description and Artist Statement:
- Title: Each piece must have a title that relates to the content or theme.
- Artist Statement: Include a brief artist statement (100-200 words) describing the inspiration, concept, or technique behind the work. The statement should help viewers connect with the piece on a deeper level.
- Process Description (Optional): If relevant, artists can describe their process, materials used, and any challenges they overcame during creation.
